How the Process Works

Step One

Initial Contact

Contact us by completing the form on this page, or you can email us, or call  813-549-9501.

The information we need from you:

1) Your name, phone number, and email address.

2) The inmate's name and DC#

3)  A brief description of the type of help needed.

Step Two

How to get started

Once we receive your information, we will review it, and a member of our staff will contact you to fully explain our services, the process, and fees. If you are interested in moving forward, we will mail you a letter with detailed information, a price quote and a service agreement.

We provide a large array of services directly to Florida inmates including:

  • Petitions Alleging Ineffective Assistance of Appellate Counsel Per Appellate Rule 9.141
  • Federal Habeas Corpus Petitions
  • Applications For Clemency Review & Parole
  • Restoration of Civil/Firearms Rights
Our primary service (and the first step required to utilize most of our other services), is our Case Review Report Service. The Case Review must be done before any other steps can be taken.

Step Three

Get the Ball Rolling
Once the Service Agreement is signed and returned, and the minimum 50% payment is made, the case review will be scheduled.  We do accept installment payments, but will not start work until the 50% is paid. Pricing is determined by the scope of the case.

Unfortunately, we can not perform work on a contingency or payment deferred basis. The remaining 50% of the fee needs to be paid prior to the completion of the case review. Case Review Reports will not be released to the attorney or client until the balance is paid in full.

As per our Service Agreement, we are normally able to obtain all the necessary records to conduct the Case Review without your assistance. If for some reason we need further documents unavailable to us, we will notify you of which documents we will need to obtain with your help.

More detailed information is presented in the initial information letter once contacted.

The comprehensive case review takes a minimum of 8-12 weeks to complete.

Prisoner Connections LLC conducts a four-step Case Review process:

  1. We assign the case to one of our experienced Case Analysts.
  2. Next, the case goes to our Senior Paralegal for review.
  3. A final review is then conducted personally by Mr. Baker prior to being presented to the attorney.
  4. Once the case review is complete, it is then presented to one of the attorneys we work with, who will then provide their written legal analysis, a copy of the Case Review Report and give legal advice on how the attorney believes the client should proceed. A copy of the completed case review can also be emailed to the inmate's family. 100% of the case review fee will be credited towards the attorney's fees if the client decides to hire the attorney for representation. Whether you choose to move forward with the attorney, or not, the Case Review Report is yours to keep and utilize in any manner you wish.

Please complete and submit this form and a member of our staff will contact you to fully explain our services, the process, and fees. If you are interested in moving forward, we will mail you a letter with detailed information, a price quote and a service agreement.

Inmate Information

Case Review Fees

The fee for conducting the case review, meeting with the attorney and providing you and the inmate with a written report on our findings typically ranges between $3,000 - $5,000 depending on the size and complexity of the trial record, and if any travel is required. You can make payments on the fee, but we must receive half of the total fee before work begins and the balance must be paid in full before we complete the case review. Additionally, the attorney will take the amount of the case review fee you paid into consideration when setting his fee for further representation of you in your post conviction proceeding.  (Usually, because this part of the required work was completed at a fraction of the cost that an attorney charges per hour, we save clients thousands of dollars in attorney fees due to the work we accomplish through the case review process.)

Pro Bono Assistance

We regret to say at this time that we are not in a position to offer pro bono paralegal assistance. Usually, organizations that do so are working under the funding of a grant, or are public agencies funded by the government. I do not know of any law firm that offers pro bono legal services to those convicted of a crime. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. It is our pleasure to serve you and look forward to a positive result.
